During the olive harvest, the workers collect and store the olives in a basket hanging around their neck called ‘macaco’ (macaque). Once this is full, it starts a playful funnel-like chain where the fruits are moved from smaller to bigger containers.
Since I was a child, I was very attracted by the exquisite hand-painted fans that decorate the walls of my family house. This origami piece is inspired by the shape of these traditional Spanish fans which decorate Andalusian houses and also keep people fresh in the summer days. The concave shape drawn by the paper folds resembles the funnel-like process described during the olive harvest.
